Raelee Jensen, Palliative Care Nurse, TIPS, Kerala

Ms Raelee Jensen, a New Zealand palliative care nurse received sponsorship from APLI in 2009 to assist her work with TIPS, Trivandrum. Raelee’s focus was on improving nursing care, aiming to increase nursing confidence and morale, and broaden their scope of practice to include a more holistic approach

Dr Sailaja Ramkumar, Trichur, 2000

Dr Sailaja Ramkumar spent one week in Melbourne, attending the PeterMacCallum Cancer Centre, the ANZSPM conference in Geelong. and the World PsychoOncology conference in Melbourne. Dr Sailaja is a psychiatrist who worked in an Aryuvedic Hospital and Cancer Centre, providing psychooncology services to palliative care patients. Dr Sailaja later contributed a regular article in the APLI newsletters under the title “Letters from Abroad”.

Dr Minni Arora, Chandigarh,2004

Dr Minni, palliative care doctor, attended the PeterMac Callum Cancer Centre for one month. During her stay, she participated in the palliative care ward rounds and clinics, academic meetings and teaching. She completed an audit and presented at the academic meeting, discussing the devleopment of palliative care at her institution, PGIMER, Chandigarh.  Dr Arora continues to work in palliative care, based in the Dept of Radiation Oncology, director, Dr Firuza Patel.
